djskein is the musical project of 24 year old Scott Crawley from Perth. He makes 3 types of music. Drone ambient, harsh noise and experimental plunderphonics in the style of V/Vm where he takes pop songs from the mid 90s and distort them with filters, effects and noise to create a disturbing atmosphere.
This song is called Brookton Highway, Karragullen, At 6:30am Approximately 5 Years After The Morning After The Doof. It was recorded by dragging a microphone across the scrub and dirt tracks of the forest adjacent to a rest stop area on Brookton Highway in Karragullen, Western Australia. The idea for the recording came to life over 5 years from the interest of wanting to do a field recording in Karragullen whilst driving home back down Brookton Highway from doofs in early 2011. The song was recorded in two separate sessions at 6:30am on Sunday morning to properly emulate the feel of what the area would sound like recording the material the morning after the doof and the second session was at 4am the following Sunday in order to pad out the length closer to the 6 minutes allowed. The recording of this song was heavily influenced by the experimental field recordings of artists such as Loren Chasse and Hands To. All audio is made from these field recordings. The original record ings have been amplified with certain sections that have been heavily amplified but nothing has been modified or filtered.
