From Matthew de la Hunty
Our first show was in Berlin, providing live music and treatments for the theatrical show "Good Little Soldier" in 2014. The New York Times described us in these glowing terms - "the terrifying soundtrack by the 2 man band". The show will be playing again at the Heath Ledger State Theatre in 2022 after a highly acclaimed run at the Subiaco Arts Centre in 2018.
But the band/brand name came later, as we continued to experiment with live improvised performance and visual elements at Artifactory and other experimental shows.
But our initial music involved a surround-sound accompaniment to an art exhibition of Dale Couper's extraordinary wildflower paintings in 2013.
This track is part of out beginnings, this is the opening excerpt of a live jam that got us invited to Berlin and really started it all.
Our process of improvisation continues to evolve with each set-up. No 2 are alike.
Dale Couper is an avant guard punk-influenced electronic artist, not to mention a gifted painter and creator of eclectic retro fish sculptures.
I'm just a pop singer/songwriter/guitarist probably best known for my work as the singer/songwriter for Tall Tales and True. So to embark on these improvised jams with Dale has been quite the journey indeed.
We talk about what we are going to do in general terms, and a theme each time we plan a jam set up. We each bring different instrument and technology. Then we just work off each other moment to moment, that is the key to it all really.
